THAIFEX-World of Food Asia 2018: Biggest Edition With 11 Mega Halls Fully-Booked By More Than 2,500 Exhibitors

THAIFEX-World of Food Asia—the largest dedicated trade show for the F&B industry in the region commenced on 29 May 2018 returns for its biggest edition yet, at the IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Centre in Bangkok. The show will be held from 29 May to 02 June 2018.

Compared to previous years, 2018 sees a 14 percent increase in exhibitors and occupies 107,000 sq m of exhibition space. The 2018 show was inaugurated with an opening ceremony graced by Deputy Prime Minister, Khun Somkid Jatusripitak.

Welcoming more than 2,500 local and international exhibitors from more than 40 countries and provinces, THAIFEX-World of Food Asia continues to be the leading one-stop trade platform for the food and beverage (F&B) industry in the region. The show expects to host more than 60,000 trade visitors this year, across 5 trade days—an increase from 3 trade days previously.

Jointly organized by the world leader in food and food technology events, Koelnmesse, along with the Department of International Trade Promotion and the Thai Chamber of Commerce, the show leverages the synergistic private-public partnership to address key opportunities and challenges of the F&B industry in ASEAN.

The World Economic Forum predicts that by 2020, ASEAN will become the world’s fifth largest economy. More than 60 million households in ASEAN are part of the ‘consuming class’, with incomes exceeding the level at which they can begin to make significant discretionary purchases. That number could almost double to 125 million households by 2025, making ASEAN a pivotal consumer market of the future.

THAIFEX-World of Food Asia, situated at the heart of ASEAN, is well-poised to facilitate business opportunities in this thriving and expanding market.

“THAIFEX-World of Food Asia aims to help raise the profile of ASEAN businesses in the global F&B industry, and to help international businesses gain entry into the effervescent region,” said Mathias Kuepper, managing director, Koelnmesse.

He added: “Constant innovation is at the core of ensuring growth and sustainability of the F&B industry, and with the advent of new technologies comes even bigger opportunities for the region to advance. Hence, visitors can expect new offerings and trends that are propelling the industry forward at the trade show, which has been reorganized into a new format to better cater to the needs of businesses.”

A Perfect Blend Of Local And International Tastes

Visitors can expect a wide selection of the latest products, services and technologies from show exhibitors, of which 50 percent are from all over the world, presenting a balanced mix of flavours converging in Thailand.

New country and provincial pavilions such as Sicily, Italy, will be making their debut, alongside new country groups—including Asia Pacific Anti Additive Association (Netherlands), Franco-Thai Chamber of Commerce (France), Ministry of Primary Industries (Sri Lanka), Vietnam High Quality Business Association (Vietnam), VLAM VZW (Belgium), Agriculture Sector Modernization Project by the Ministry of Social Welfare and Primary Industries (Sri Lanka), and Trade Promotion Council of India (India).

Making its debut as the official partner country, Argentina will see 29 exhibitors under their country pavilion, including Consejo Federal De Inversiones. On the other hand, the trade show continues to have a strong showing of local businesses, represented by exhibitors including Betargro, CPF Thailand (Public), Mitr Phol, and Thai Beverage.

“With Thailand’s GDP growth this year poised to hit four percent, we have strategically introduced various measures and incentives to facilitate trading and boost the economic value of our country’s produce,” said Chantira Jimreivat Vivatrat, Director-General, Department of International Trade Promotion.

“THAIFEX-World of Food Asia continues to be a valuable platform to advance the growth of Thai food exports to the world, and we are looking forward to the opportunities that the trade show will open up for Thai businesses,” Vivatrat continued.

Echoing the same sentiments, Kalin Sarasin, chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand, and chairman of the Tourism Authority of Thailand Board of Directors, said: “With the number of local companies this year on par with that of international exhibitors, THAIFEX-World of Food Asia is indeed becoming more global in essence, yet with local twists. We are proud to present Thailand’s strongest players in the F&B industry on a world stage.”
