The inaugural international processing and packaging trade event, ProPak Philippines debuted yesterday in Manila at the World Trade Center. ProPak Philippines 2019 is the first-of-its-kind, industry focused, international trade exhibition for the Philippines, gathering businesses from the rapidly growing processing and packaging sectors.

Organised by UBM Asia, this event features 292 exhibitors across 29 countries, including 9 international pavilions from China, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and the UK. The exhibition will showcase the best and latest technology and innovations, machines and solutions, connecting businesses in large scale industrial manufacturing, as well as SME (small medium enterprises).

The food manufacturing industry in Philippines is the strongest manufacturing sector, representing 65 percent of the manufacturing industry. Moreover, with a growth of an average of six to eight percent a year, greater investments in automation and upgrades in technology is necessary for the industry to thrive. Increasing food exports—32 percent in 2017—creates significant business opportunities and Philippines aims to increase local quality, variety and value-added processing to meet increasing domestic demands and larger export revenues. ProPak Philippines would support local food manufacturers ambitions to innovate and expand the processing and packaging industry.

The Asia Pacific Food Industry team caught up with a a few exhibitors on-site for their feedback:

Wolf Packaging: “I’m positively surprised by the visitor turnout for this inaugural show—the quality of the visitors and leads generated are unexpected!”

Igus: “The show gives us the opportunity to create brand awareness in the Philippines. We are able to connect with our clients, and give them an avenue to reach out to igus’ wide range of products, with the strong support from our local partners (SiePlus & CHRIVE).”

Flexco: “The Philippines has one of the largest market shares in the food processing industry—after Thailand and Indonesia—and ProPak Philippines provides an avenue through which we can tap into the MNC network and establish a larger presence in the country.”

For those interested in attending, the show will run from 24 to 26 January 2019, 10 to 6PM.
