General Mills Names Dana McNabb as New CEO, Targets Operational Efficiency
Thursday, October 1st, 2026

General Mills will enter 2027 with a new chief executive and a renewed focus on profitable growth, digital demand generation and supply chain modernisation — priorities that offer lessons for food manufacturers across ASEAN.
The company announced on 30 September 2026 that Dana McNabb, currently its chief operating officer, will succeed Jeff Harmening as CEO on January 1, 2027. Harmening will become executive chair of the board.
McNabb has spent 27 years at General Mills in roles spanning general management, strategy, marketing and international operations. As COO, she oversees the company’s operating segments and functions including supply chain, innovation, technology and quality.
Her immediate focus is clear. “Returning the company to profitable growth is the priority, and we know how we’ll get there. By building industry-leading, digitally enabled demand generation, and modernizing our supply chain, we will fundamentally improve how we operate.”
For ASEAN food and beverage manufacturers, the emphasis on supply chain modernisation is particularly relevant as companies balance cost pressures with the need for resilience and faster responses to changing consumer demand.
Digital tools can support demand forecasting, inventory planning and production scheduling, while modernised supply chains can improve visibility across suppliers, manufacturing sites and distribution networks.
General Mills also demonstrates how supply chain, technology and commercial functions are increasingly interconnected. McNabb currently oversees innovation, technology and quality alongside supply chain and sales.
For manufacturers in Southeast Asia, the transition reinforces a broader industry shift: operational efficiency is no longer separate from growth strategy, but increasingly a prerequisite for it.
