Developing The Best Human Milk Substitute Formula

Saturday, August 21st, 2021

QHT Biological Limited (QHT) – Global Leader in Microbiome Health solution, is the trademark for the Microecological Nutrition Business Division of ChemPartner PharmaTech (Stock Code: 300149). Its main business lies in the research, production and sales of prebiotic fibers as a microecological fortification ingredient, Food for Special Medical Purposes (FSMP) product, OEM service.

QHT focuses on digestive microbiota health. Its core products, fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS) and galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS) , are widely recognised as essential prebiotics that have significant beneficial effects of a properly balanced human digestive microbiome. QHT controls independent research and development core technologies and patented technologies.

QHT is also exploring formula developed specifically for Chines babies and uncovered that human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) found in Chinese breast milk differ from those of other nationalities.

QHT’s academic research paper – Systematic Characterisation and Longitudinal Study Reveal Distinguishing Features of Human Milk Oligosaccharides in China was published on Current Development in Nutrition from Oxford University Press.

Human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) in human breast milk contribute to the development of neonatal microbiota and early life immune system growth. However, Quantum Hi-Tech (China) Biological Co., Ltd. (QHT) found that longitudinal studies examining HMOs profiles of Chinese mothers remain scarce.

Initialed to develop a HMOs database of Chinese mother, QHT started the scientific project which was partially supported by the Innovation Talent Program of Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province, China since 2015. With the objective of analysing HMOs profiles including the compositions, concentrations, and changes during lactation in human milk. 822 milk samples from 222 Chinese mothers were collected and analysed, and 24 HMOs were studied during the research.

In QHT’s research, data showed the dynamic change of 24 HMOs in secretors and non-secretors during lactation period and revealed unique features of these HMOs profiles in the milk of Chinese mothers. QHT also found that, HMOs differences among Chinese mothers are also triggered by the various LEWIS blood types. Most importantly, in Chinese mothers milk, the 2’-FL levels in secretors were found to be lower than those of western population but higher than those of African population.

The findings are bringing QHT a step closer to the goal of developing “the best human milk substitute formula” for Chinese babies.

As a company that “leads the globe in prebiotic technology,” QHT asserts that it always concentrates on developing prebiotic research and develop systems. QHT looked into how oligosaccharides are important components in breast milk that can help maintain the infant’s digestive health and enhance its immunity.

In the future, the company has promised that it will continually step up its pace as it develops other HMOs related research and analysis, and improves their brand competitiveness through technical innovations.
