A provider of energy efficient solutions, Danfoss Industries will be setting up a Centre of Excellence for cold chain technologies at the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM), located in New Delhi, India, to support development of the country’s food as well as food processing sector.

The company Danfoss Commits To Bridging Skills Gap In India has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with NIFTEM to bridge skill gaps in India’s cold chain sector.

Kim Fausing, president and chief executive officer, Danfoss Global, stated: “With initiatives like World Food India and a proactive government, we are committed to further investments, working with stakeholders for all-round value chain development and towards engineering tomorrow’s India.”

At a roundtable with India’s prime minister Narendra Modi, Mr Fausing discussed strengthening the Indo-Danish ties and knowledge transfer between both countries on food as well as food processing.

Commenting on the occasion, Ravichandran Purushothaman, president, Danfoss Industries, said, “India and Denmark are both primarily agrarian economies. In terms of total farm output, India is the second largest in the world but still agriculture is not our primary export earner, whereas in Denmark agriculture contributes to around 25 percent of the export basket. We are focussed on ensuring the safety and longevity of perishable farm produce and processed food as we understand that it is critical for India’s trade and commerce in coming days.”
